free Computer Science bootcamps
The FAU College of Engineering and Computer Science’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers intensive, hands-on bootcamps designed to help students build practical skills in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
This summer, students can choose from two specialized offerings: Practical AI for Cybersecurity and Practical AI for Learning and Research .
These free, week-long bootcamps are held Monday through Friday and combine hands-on instruction with applied AI learning. Sessions will also be recorded, giving participants the flexibility to revisit material or catch up on a session they may have missed.

Practical AI for Cybersecurity
Jumpstart your AI skills with this immersive bootcamp designed for undergraduate students. Learn how to build and secure large language models (LLMs), master prompt engineering, and create AI agents using tools such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, and LangChain. By the end of the bootcamp, participants will have hands-on experience with techniques used across today’s AI industry.

Practical AI for Learning and Research
Learn how to use Generative AI effectively and responsibly in everyday academic work. This hands-on bootcamp focuses on practical applications such as solving problems, writing reports, studying challenging concepts, analyzing data, and conducting research.
Participants will also learn how to recognize common GenAI mistakes, understand where AI can save time or support critical thinking, and identify situations where it may produce misleading or unreliable results.
By the end of the bootcamp, students will be better prepared to use GenAI thoughtfully, efficiently, and responsibly in learning and research.
