2026 Field Study Reflections

The annual Educator Field Study to Washington D.C. is open to 5th – 12th grade educators from Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, Glades and St. Lucie counties.Ìý

Participants will receive intensive training and engage with one of the most renowned museums and Holocaust education centers worldwide.

Below is the feedback we gathered from educators who participated in our 2025 field study:

I learned…

I learned that people cannot bury their heads in the sand and stand by and watch atrocities. ÌýIf more people got involved, the Holocaust could have been prevented – Dawn AzzarelliÌý

I learned SO MUCH! There were so many gaps in my knowledge of the events of the Holocaust, specifically learning about the ghettos, the killing squads, and the work camps/factories (BMW) that exploited Jews for slave labor – Melissa AbellÌý

I learned a lot speaking to a survivor – this really impacted me. I always knew about the millions of victims, but the internal feeling of empathy towards each individual grew immensely – Kyle MarchÌý


I will be able to use in my teaching…

Classroom conversations and assembles on the dangers of antisemitism and the decisiveness that were at the beginning of all of this. ÌýWe need to ensure our students understand the importance of embracing everyone and being an upstander whenever they see a need – Melissa AbellÌý


I would change…

I think the museum is a beautiful tribute. ÌýI also appreciate spending time and reflecting with my peers.
