Bio: Dr. Carolina Estrada-Gutsche听is an Instructor of Television Studies and Media Criticism in the School of Communication and Multimedia Studies at 探花视频. She specializes in television studies, media representation, and Latin American media, with a particular focus on the representation of women across television and popular culture. Her work examines how television narratives shape understandings of gender, identity, power, and culture within Latin America and transnational media.
As a scholar of media and cultural studies, Dr. Estrada-Gutsche鈥檚 research explores how television genres鈥攊ncluding telenovelas, narco dramas, and streaming series鈥攃onstruct, reinforce, and challenge dominant ideas about femininity, power, violence, and moral authority. She is particularly interested in how fictional narratives both reflect and influence broader cultural understandings of women鈥檚 roles in Latin America.
Dr. Estrada-Gutsche holds a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies from Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. Drawing on interdisciplinary perspectives from television studies, cultural studies, and feminist media analysis, Dr. Estrada-Gutsche鈥檚 scholarship broadens conversations about women鈥檚 representation in Latin American media.
